What's the CSM course like?

It's 20-50 hours for most students

Who should take the CSM course?

People who dropped out of school -- If you thought math wasn't useful or you were just to far behind, CSM is all workforce-related math, and it will go back to 4th grade math if you need to fill in your gaps
People studying for the GED -- CSM will help not only the math, but on all parts of the test, and will give you confidence going into the test
People who want to go to college -- if you're math isn't up to par, CSM is the fastest and mot supportive way to catch back up
People with test anxiety -- CSM allows you to skip the college math placement test while you get college math credit
People who want to go into a vocational/technical certificate program -- CSM helps not just the math that could hold you back, but also the builds your ability to learn other technical subjects
People who want to go stright into the workforce -- CSM will earn you a Certificate of High Performance that you can show to employers, but will also build the learning and High Performance skills that will put you onto track for promotions and a career

On completing CSM, in addition to the college credit you earn, you will recieve a Credly digital badge that can go on your resume or your social media profile. You'll also receive a CSM Certificate -- not just of college math, but rather the High Performance skills that you have developed:

Survey from the CSM Summer Program

In summer 2026, Excel Together NM ran a summer program for high school students funded by Sandia National Labs. The participants were a range of "ordinary" students -- some advanced, some struggling, some in-between. Here were the results of a survey they took on completing CSM, showing the percent of students who agree with the following statements:
